Hear It From Our Past Team Leaders

My time as a programme mentor and group leader at GV was truly one of the best experiences I’ve ever had! I had the chance to work with an incredible international team and meet kids from all around the world, every day felt like being part of one big family. From organizing fun activities and leading groups, to exploring Malta together and sharing unforgettable moments, there was never a dull day. It was an amazing summer full of laughter, teamwork, and memories that will stay with me forever!

Working at GV Summer Camp last summer was an incredible and unforgettable experience. Here, you don’t just find a job, you find a family. The atmosphere is warm, welcoming, and full of energy. The GV team is both friendly and professional, always ready to guide and support you throughout your stay. You get the chance to learn, grow, and share amazing moments while working with kids in a fun and inspiring environment, where everyone looks out for one another and teamwork truly matters. It’s an experience that teaches you as much as it rewards you, both personally and professionally.

The team leader role provided an incredible opportunity to develop my leadership, planning and cultural engagement skills, and it truly felt like being part of a close-knit family. Collaborating with campers and staff from around the globe meant every day was filled with new experiences and moments to learn. I had the privilege of forming friendships with a diverse range of people (who I now call friends), each bringing their own unique perspective to the team. The experience was so enriching that I eagerly applied for a more senior role at GV Malta to help manage the team leaders and that lasted for two amazing summers. GV Summer Camp was a rewarding experience over a total of 3 years that I will always remember.

The only thing I wanted from an internship was to work with purpose — something that truly meant something. At GV Malta Summer Camp, I got so much more than that. I can honestly say I learned lessons for life and made memories that will stay in my heart forever.

The team, the kids, and the place itself were pure magic throughout the five weeks I worked there. Every day brought something new — laughter, challenges, and moments that made me grow in ways I never expected. Don’t get me wrong, there were times that were tough, but the support within the team was incredible; everyone was there for each other, and that made every challenge worth it. The team was more than amazing, and I even met one of my dearest friends there.

What makes GV Malta so special is that you get the chance to try everything — every activity, every role — so you truly discover what you enjoy and where your strengths lie. The activities really vary, so you get to see a lot from the island as well. We did city tours, rock climbing, festivals and of course a lot of beach time.

Each child who comes to camp is unique, and you can learn so much from every single one of them. Some them even want to apply to this camp once they are old enough and that shows – once GV Malta family, always GV Malta family.

The cultural exchange is one of the best parts of the camp — there are kids from all around the world, each bringing their own stories and traditions. Our culture nights were some of my absolute favorite moments, filled with music, laughter, and so much learning about different countries and people.

At GV Malta, you don’t just join a camp — you become part of a family. If you couldn't already tell, I had the most amazing time at this summer camp and I can more than recommend it to everybody who loves kids and wants to learn more about themself.

Working as a Team Leader at GV Malta’s Summer Camp in 2024 was an unforgettable experience! From day one, I felt supported by the incredible staff and encouraged to bring my energy and creativity to every activity. Watching the campers grow in confidence and form friendships was so rewarding, and being part of their journey was truly inspiring. I also learned so much about teamwork and leadership that I’ll carry with me for years. The bonds I formed with both campers and colleagues made this more than a job—it was like being part of a big, international family!

Working at GV Malta Summer Camp as a Programme Mentor from the 18th of June to the 24th of August has permitted me to develop my intercultural communication skills. Thanks to this experience, I have had the opportunity to work in a diverse team, with colleagues from different parts of Europe and managers with different nationalities. I found interesting and enriching working at GV’s Summer Camp team because when planning the activities each member contributed with an idea for a game taking into account the region they were from. Moreover, my colleagues and I also worked with European and non-European students at the site which made the experience even more enriching.

To ensure each student is placed in the most suitable class, we consider both English level and age when grouping classes.

All students are required to complete our Placement Test before arrival. The test is done online after booking and takes approximately 45 minutes. It includes 60 multiple-choice questions and a written section to assess grammar, vocabulary, and writing skills.

Our teachers continuously monitor students’ progress, especially during the first few days. If a student is placed in a level that is too easy or too challenging, they may be moved up or down to better match their abilities. This ensures every student is in the best learning environment to improve their English skills.
